Ever since Carol Wingert came to visit us I have been obsessed with altering and embellishing books.

First I gather a bunch of books that are headed for the recycle bin and take all the pages out of them…then I cover the book with papers, paint or even fabric…finally the fun begins and you add all kinds of papers…and that’s not the end…add sticker, rubons, pockets, tags and more. You can make all kinds of themes and I warn you they are addictive…

Check out these pictures to see a few of the ones that I did recently…

I think I might just be in love…the new Shimmerz Spritz have arrived…there are 20 luscious colors. I know your are asking yourself why more color sprays…

Well these are more shimmery than other sprays that I have used – They go on more evenly than other sprays – There are new colors…So far I haven’t see a lot of color over lap. So that’s my take on these…

Here are a couple of pictures to give you an idea of the colors

I have been moving things around and organizing the store a bit this week…I even made some samples. All of this was inspired by my love of the Creative Cafe! Back in December we organized a display based on the holiday colors and it was so pretty that I have continued on and now we are feeling a bit red, white and blue! Here are a couple of pictures so you can see what I mean…I was going to take more until the battery in the camera died…

If that’s not a enough for you I made some fun goodie bag samples based on the ones I saw on the Creative Cafe blog…too cute right? These are super simple and we have everything right in the store to make them:)

May is the beginning of 3 (YES THREE!!) new books for book club. Tuesday and Thursday nights have been SO popular I decided to add another book on Wednesday nights for the scrapbookers out there. The way our book club works is this: Attend one or all of the sessions. You don’t need to own the book or have attended prior sessions to join in the fun. Sign up for the session(s) that interest you and have fun working on projects out of some of the most inspiring art and craft books published. All supplies are provided in your fee.

Tuesday night is Claudine Hellmuth’s “Collage Discovery Workshop”. This time we are doing things a bit differently since the projects in the back portion of her book utilize the techniques in the front portion, we’re skipping right to the projects and referring back to the information at the front of the book. Check the calendar each week for my sample of the project we’ll complete. (I’ll try to have the sample up at least one week prior to class)

Wednesday nights start a little later for those of you who have kids to put down to bed before you slip out of the house. From 8-9:30pm we’ll be working out the Page Maps (sketches) by Becky Fleck. Again, I will try to have photos of the layouts we’ll be working on weekly. You will be able to select paper that matches your photos and interpret the chosen sketches for yourself each week. This is the perfect time to get some serious scrapbooking done!

Thursday nights we’re back at 6:30 to practice a multitude of techniques from Julia Andrus’ book “Paper Transformed” Each week we’ll work on at least 6 different techniques. Each technique will be done on extra large manila tags (3 3/4″x 7 1/2″) so at the end of the series you will have a ton of them to bind together into a book if you choose. Again each week I’ll have samples up on the calendar to show some of the techniques for that week.
